What causes dynamic wrinkles?
As the skin ages, two types of wrinkles can develop - static and dynamic. While static wrinkles are visible even while the face is at rest, dynamic wrinkles occur as a result of repeated muscle contractions and facial expressions. Static wrinkles are proven to respond better to dermal fillers, but BOTOX® can effectively smooth and relax the dynamic wrinkles around your eyes and forehead.
What is Botox®?
A purified protein solution derived from the botulinum molecule, BOTOX® is injected in small doses directly into the facial muscles. A fine needle is used, and a topical numbing agent may also be an option for optimal patient comfort. Once injected into the targeted muscles, BOTOX® works by:
- Temporarily blocking nerve signals
- Relaxing the muscle contractions that play a key role in dynamic wrinkle visibility
- Smoothing away crow's feet and vertical forehead lines for up to six months with optimal treatment

XEOMIN incobotulinumtoxinA
Is approved by the FDA for the treatment of adults with moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. IncobotulinumtoxinA is made from the bacteria that causes botulism. It temporarily alters the nerve impulses of targeted muscles, therefore reducing or eliminating contraction-induced wrinkles. Xeomin is a good alternative for patients who developed resistance to Botox.
